Throwback to the Celebration of Franco-German Day 2026

On January 22, 2026, the German Business Association (GBA) and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV) co-organized two networking events in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate Franco-German Day, a strong symbol of friendship and cooperation between France and Germany.

This date commemorates the signing of the Élysée Treaty in 1963 by General Charles de Gaulle and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer. This historic treaty marked a major turning point in European relations by sealing Franco-German reconciliation after World War II. Since then, it has embodied a close partnership built on dialogue, political, economic, and cultural cooperation, as well as a shared vision for Europe’s future.

Through these two evenings held in Vietnam, more than 250 participants from the French and German business communities came together, representing the two largest European business communities in the country.

We were honored to welcome:

  • Ms. Andrea Maria Sühl, Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City
  • Mr. Grégory Robert, Deputy Consul, Consulate General of France in Ho Chi Minh City
  • Mr. Simon Kreye, Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of Germany in Hanoi
  • Ms. Eva Dousset, Deputy Head of the Economic Department, Embassy of France in Hanoi
  • Mr. Björn Koslowski, Deputy Chief Representative of AHK Vietnam

These gatherings once again demonstrated that Franco-German friendship extends far beyond Europe. It continues to grow internationally, driven by dynamic and committed business communities dedicated to cooperation.
