Throwback to Building Bridges in AI Research and Education conference in Hanoi

On 20 October, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV) had the pleasure of joining the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) and Institut DataIA – Université Paris-Saclay for an inspiring morning dedicated to the future of AI research and education. The event, titled “Building Bridges in AI Research and Education” was jointly supported by CCI France Vietnam (CCIFV), La French Tech Vietnam, the French Embassy in Vietnam, and CCE Vietnam.
This initiative took place at a pivotal moment for Vietnam’s digital transformation. In June 2025, the country adopted the Law on Digital Technology Industry, which covers digital assets, AI regulation, and aims to foster 150,000 digital-tech firms by 2035. At the same time, a dedicated AI Law is being drafted to promote human-centric, transparent, and responsible artificial intelligence.
Against this dynamic backdrop, Jean-Marc Lavest, Principal Rector of USTH, opened the session by highlighting the importance of international cooperation in science and innovation. He was followed by Dr Rémi Nguyen, Vice President at CCIFV and Partner at MLR Constantin, who presented CCIFV’s mission to connect business, academia, and innovation ecosystems between France and Vietnam.
Vincent Mady, Co-leader at La French Tech Vietnam, emphasized La French Tech’s role in promoting French innovation, supporting startup development and fostering the local tech ecosystem in Vietnam.
Frédéric Pascal, Vice President for AI at Université Paris-Saclay, presented the Institut DataIA’s missions: bringing together multidisciplinary expertise across Université Paris-Saclay to strengthen collaboration in AI research, education, and innovation. The institute unites academia and industry to amplify the collective power of Paris-Saclay cluster partners involved in research, training, and innovation in AI, data science, and their social impact.
The conference concluded with an open discussion on developing AI skills for students and faculty, promoting interdisciplinary research, as well as strengthening future cooperation and joint projects between France and Vietnam.
A warm thank you to Patrice Estellé, Professor and Director of Research at USTH, Lucas Tourny, Executive Director at Institut DataIA, and all participants who made this event a success!
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
