Dr. Jean-Samuel WartelMedical Director Assistance Services Asia - International SOS

Dr Sam is an Emergency Medicine physician who completed his Emergency Medicine Residency training and Disaster Medicine training in Paris.

After his first medical position in Emergency Departments in Paris, he moved to Vietnam in 2004 with his family. At FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, he was the Head of the Emergency Medicine Department and Ambulance Service for six years and joined International SOS in July 2009 as a Coordinating Doctor and Flight Doctor based in Singapore.

For the past few years, he worked at different International SOS Assistance Centres and clinics in Asia, performed several missions in the region including Site Health Reviews for clients and conducted survey with the Network Department to build, accredit and continuously assess the quality of care provided by medical and related services in the Southeast Asia Region.

In his current role as the Medical Director, Assistance Services, Dr Sam is in charge of several countries in SEA region. He pilots the International SOS Assistance Centres in cooperation with Medical Doctors and the Operation Team, manages projects, certifies Medical Emergency Response Plans for offshore and onshore sites, providing visible and effective leadership in the Asia region.

Dr Sam speaks at numerous external conferences in collaboration with the International SOS Security team. He loves to explore health challenges when travelling abroad and provides recommendations for a safe trip.
