BNP Paribas HCMC Branch 2018 Beach Clean Up: raising awareness for younger generations

On December 1st 2018, 110 BNP Paribas employees and their families spend a day in Can Gio and cleaned the beach of the Can Gio resort. The event was co-organized by the Association Vietnam Sach and Xanh and the initiative Save Your Ocean. 

The participants collected over 650 kg of wastes on the beach, mainly composed of plastic disposable items like straws, plastic bags, food boxes or plastic cups.

After the cleaning up, a workshop was organized with the intervention of the founder of Save Your Ocean, Ms. Hoang Quynh Huong. A game raised awareness among the children present at the event: it helped them understand the consequences of their consumption choices and where the plastic pollution comes from.

A brainstorming session allowed everyone to express their ideas to find solutions to this global ongoing issue. At the end of the event, each employee made a statement, committing him/her to take one step towards less plastic consumption.

“What I liked the most in this event is that each participant left Can Gio more aware on how to protect the environment and make a worth living world for our future generations”, Minh Phuong Nguyen, Assistant Relationship Manager.

“The workshop in the afternoon added great value to the beach clean-up because I and my children felt personally engaged in the activities ; this is the best way to spend a good time and learn at the same time”, Thuy Hong Van Dao, Head of Client Management Department.
