CSR high on the agenda: How Doing Good Is Good For Business 2018

On June 28th, 2018 CCIFV together with LIN Center for Community Development and CanCham organized the Conference How Doing Good is Good for Business. This was a great achievement for us, as increasing the flow of good business practices in the network and raising awareness about CSR is one of our top priorities. The conference was attended by 280 guests, exceeding our expectations and confirming the growing importance that people are placing on making long-term, sustainable impact on society and the environment in Vietnam.

The conference was designed for companies who want to optimize their CSV/CSR tools as a strategy to sustainably grow their businesses, but also suitable for non-profit organizations looking for innovative models and win-win-win approaches for collaboration with companies.

On behalf of CCIFV, LIN & CanCham, we are so excited to share some highlights and successful stories from the event:

  • This event wouldn’t have been the success it was without the 280 participants’ commitment (65% corporate, 24% NPO, 7% media and 4% governmental representatives).
  • 13 press have featured the conference in their articles or news.
  • We are excited to share that, as a result of the conference, one of LIN’s non-profit partners, VietSeeds, has received a sponsorship package for two scholarships (valued at US$ 8,000) from an individual philanthropist. Success stories like this are what make it all worthwhile.

We have also heard from corporate sector participants that the conference has provided them with a greater understanding of where and who they could share their CSR visions with, and explore valuable partnership opportunities.

Here is a message we received from one of the conference participants:

"....you guys did great! I thought the quality of organization was excellent and the level of discussion just about right for the assembled crowd.  It's a huge topic to cover and I thought a lot of people came away from the day's events energized and looking for ways to move forward.

There were some really great stories told -- the ones that really stuck out for me were iCare Benefits, Marou and Decathlon. They all clearly understand the concepts well and have implemented some very impressive approaches. What's really key is they didn't set out to do "CSR" - they just wanted to do what they thought was right for society and their businesses.

Congratulations! Looking forward to next year's now!"

Presentations of speakers at the event, together with some reference documents will be shared on the event website soon.

Photos of the event are posted on Facebook and Linkedin.

To keep the momentum, LIN will be organizing a follow-up workshop on “Socially Responsible Leadership” in October. Stay in touch with us to be posted on further information!

CCIFV aims to increase the flow of good business practices, experiences and contacts to enhance sustainable development in Vietnam. Through our programs we strive to encourage businesses to create social and environmental change. Today we are very proud of our members Decathlon, Exo TravelMarou and Vergers du Mekong, and their amazing speakers during the conference, who have been committed to share their sustainable vision and demonstrate how they create value for business and for society.
