The conference focused on future proofing sustainable business, with the aim to drive honest conversation and generate dialogue around critical issues. Conversation focused around some of the changes we see in today’s world such as challenging economic times, volatile world events, a deteriorating environment, a growing social divide and fast-changing technology. It highlighted that adaption to these risks will be a huge factor in organisational survival.

More than 80 speakers contributed to the 2-day conference and included some of the most influential people driving sustainability in the region.  Keynotes included David Galipeau, Chief, United Nations Social Impact Fund, who spoke about shifting from CSR to CSP (“Corporate Social Performance,” metrics-driven CSR) as a means of integrating social value into every aspect of business. Martin Tan, Executive Director, Institute for Societal Leadership also gave organizations key suggestions for ensuring future business survival, including looking at social innovation as a means of finding solutions rather than innovation, and finding solutions with a collaborative approach based around common good, not self-interest.

Dr Richard Welford, Chairman and Founder of CSR Asia said, “In today’s current climate the future is uncertain and businesses are realising that they will need to play their part in contributing to the challenges associated with sustainable development. To do so means engaging with global challenges and making a contribution to development in line with core business activities.
