Geography

 

 

Vietnam is a strip of land with a S shade. Located at the center ouf South East Asia, there is China in the North, Laos and Cambodia at the West and the Oriental Sea and the Pacific Ocean at the East.It has more han 3,200 km coasts and the terrestrian frontier is 3,700 km long. The distance between the North and the South is 1,650 km; the maximum width in the Norh is 600 km and in the South 400 km; the minimum width is 50 km in the province of Quang Binh. Vietnam is a crossroad for all raods betwen the Indian Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

Climate

 

 

The average temperatures are between 22°C and 27°C although the cimate varies a lot from place to place: 23°C in Hanoi, 26°C in Ho Chi Minh City and 25°C in Hue.

Vietnam has deux different season: the dry & cold season (from November to April) and the hot & rainy season (from May to October). Temperatures variations are higher in the North, the variation can be up to 12°C, whereas in the South it is only up to 3°C. The two seasons are not totally fixed, we can find elements of the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, summer especially in the North.

Vietnam is in an area with tropical and subtropical climates with monsoon winds, a lot of shining, a lot of rain and humidity. Other places near the Tropic of Cancer and with high altitudes have a temperate climate.

Natural Resources

Forests are widely extended in the territory. National reserves are protected by the Governement and are subject to plans focused on ecotourism and sustainable development. These forests are precious and are spread through the country: Ba Vi (Ha Tay), Cat Ba(Hai Phong), Cuc Phuong (Ninh Binh), Bach Ma (Hue), Cat Tien (Dong Nai), Con Dao, etc.

Vietnam is a country with a lot of ore. Its subsoil is full of tin, silver, gold, antimoine, precious stones, coal. Its continental plateau is full of petroleum and natural gas.

Vietnam also has a lot of water sources: Quang Hanh (Quang Ninh), Hoi Van (Binh Dinh), Vinh Hao(Binh Thuan), Duc My(Nha Trang) et Kim Boi(Hoa Binh).
